Virat Kohli Joins 200 Million Club on Instagram

Unmatched. Unprecedented. Unparalleled.

These are words we’ve often used to describe Virat Kohli when he’s been on the field over the years. He’s broken countless records in domestic and international cricket and we don’t think there will be anyone nearing him in terms of batting records anytime soon. Across the world, he’s been a role model to many upcoming cricketers as well.

And the best part is that Kohli hasn’t just been breaking records on the field. His fitness regime is one to be envious of, while his social media following is always reaching new milestones. In fact, he’s been the highest followed Indian as well as the highest followed cricketer in the world since a few years now.

Virat Kohli hits 200 million on Instagram

Just yesterday, Kohli went on to break a new record as he became the first cricketer and of course the first Indian to breach the 200-million followers mark on leading social media platform, Instagram. He’s super active with brand promotions, his fitness goals, posts with his wife and much more on Instagram.

Not only is he the only Indian in the list but there’s no one who has even hit the 100-million mark among Indians so far. In fact, there’s no Asian celebrity who has hit this mark till date. That just goes to show the influence he has had on youngster in India and even across the world. And the followers keep rising even though there have been quite a few questions raised over his game in the last two years or so.

Actress and singer Priyanka Chopra is the next most followed Indian celebrity on Instagram with as many as 79 million followers but that’s still not even half as many as Kohli has. Instagram itself leads the count of most followers on this platform, with as many as 515 million followers right now, putting Kohli on 17th on the list of most followed accounts in the world.

However, three of them on this list are brands and organisations so if we talk about the most followed people in the world, Kohli is now 14th on the list. His popularity just keeps increasing day by day and some of the global names he overtook on this list in recent months include footballer Neymar Jr, influencer Kourtney Kardashian, and rapper Nicki Minaj.

The next people ahead of Kohli on the list are singers Jennifer Lopez (211 million) and Taylor Swift (213 million) and it’ll be great to see if he can overtake them as well. The former Indian captain has always been very vocal about thanking his fans and he obviously put out a post to thank them on reaching this massive milestone too, with caption “2⃣0⃣0⃣ mil strong 💪. Thanks for all your support insta fam. 💙💪.”
