WATCH: Viral Video After Rishabh Pant Accident

Earlier this morning, cricket fans heard some horrifying news of their favourite wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant meeting with a road accident while driving from Delhi to Roorkee, about 90kms away from Dehradun. And while this is said to have happened at around 5:30am this morning, 30th Dec 2022, tributes have been flowing in for the southpaw since morning.

As per reports, it’s being said that Pant dozed off on the wheel while driving alone in his car, lost control, and met with an accident. It is said that the car then caught fire and Pant escaped after breaking through the window, but not after sustaining heavy burn injuries on his head, back, and other body parts. The car was a Mercedes GLE and we believe it the divider and flipped a couple of times before catching fire too!

Video shows moments after Rishabh Pant accident

There seemed to be a steady flow of traffic on the road at the time of the accident and a passerby has taken a video of the same, minutes after the car seems to have caught fire. The person is heard saying that an accident took place and the driver was lying by the side of the road, where we see some other onlookers trying to help him.

While it’s not 100% confirmed that this video is from today’s accident, the car matches the one we’ve seen in official photos and we even hear one of the people helping him towards the end saying that it’s Rishabh Pant. The video was posted by Siddhant Mohan, with caption, “This video is told to be of Rishabh Pant’s recent accident in Uttarakhand. Vehicle can be seen on fire and Pant is lying on the ground.”

Immediately after the accident, images went viral of Pant’s injuries sustained on his bare back, while images of him admitted to hospital on a bed also went viral. It was later confirmed by authorities that Pant is now stable but has sustained lacerative wounds on his forehead, one above his left eye, a ligament tear in his knee, and abrasions on his back as well.

Police confirmed that Pant may have fallen asleep on the wheel because there was no fog or lack of visibility on the road at the time. However, no official statement has yet been released as to what happened. We’ve also been reading that Pant was lucky to have survived the crash and come out alive. A few moments later, another video was taken from the area of the incident, where those who were helping Pant seemed to have covered him up. Pant was also seen conscious and awake and able to talk in that video, while clearly looking shaken up. The car was still burning in the background and towards the end of the video, he was seen asking the person to stop filming the moment. See here:
