VHT 2022 – Twitter Reacts to Ruturaj Gaikwad’s 3rd Straight Century

Whatever level of the game you’re playing – whether club or state or national or international level – scoring four centuries in five games is never easy. And that’s the achievement that Maharashtra’s Ruturaj Gaikwad has just completed in the ongoing 2022 Vijay Hazare Trophy. We’ve been following his progress right through the VHT 2022 tournament, and he’s just been getting better and better over time!

His first game of the tournament saw him getting 124* against Railways. He then had a rare failure where he scored 40 vs Bengal before taking a break for a few days due to an injury. When he returned, he was impeccable as he began with a record breaking score of 220* against Uttar Pradesh, followed it up with 168 in the VHT 2022 semi final vs Assam, and then another ton in the final against Saurashtra.

VHT 2022 – 3 consecutive centuries for Ruturaj Gaikwad

The Maharashtra vs Saurashtra game was a much-anticipated one and due to early wickets, Gaikwad put up his slowest Vijay Hazare Trophy fifty, which he brought up un 96 balls. But from there, he shifted gears and that’s what we love the most about Ruturaj Gaikwad. He knows exactly when to shift gears, understands situations at all times, and here, he scored his third consecutive century in this VHT 2022 season.

The Chennai Super Kings player scored 600+ runs in the IPL 2022 season and that’s when people first started hearing his name a lot. We at Read Scoops however, identified this talent when he first bagged an IPL contract with CSK, conducting an exclusive interview with Ruturaj Gaikwad even before his IPL debut. Look where he is today!

Narayan Jagadeesan from Tamil Nadu is the highest run getter in the 2022 Vijay Hazare Trophy season, with 830 runs in 8 games, 5 consecutive centuries at one time, and a record breaking List A score of 277. However, Gaikwad scored runs when most needed, getting centuries in all three knockout games for his team Maharashtra, and Twitter couldn’t hold in its excitement when he got there again today.

Always very calculative in his approach, Gaikwad started slow in the semi final game as well, but managed to reach another century, which he repeated again today. In the final, they had an even slower start but he covered up for his team once again, deciding to be the aggressor after the 30-over mark. Eventually, he got to his century in the 40th over, the tweet above showing he has 8 tons in his last 10 VHT innings!

He completed his century in 125 balls, but was unfortunately run out in the 42nd over as he tried to complete a second run and was sent back to the dressing room with his score at 108(131). He ended with 660 runs in 5 games, with a outstanding batting average of 220 through the tournament. For similar updates from VHT 2022 and general cricket news from around the world, stay tuned to ReadScoops.com.
