The entire world of cricket knows that the great Virat Kohli is suffering some really poor form at this point of time. A living legend in the game we all love, the former Indian captain hasn’t had an international century in more than 2 years and now, the media and critic pressure seems to really be building on him.
A lot of top experts and former cricketers even believe that it’s high time Kohli is given a break, while some even believe he doesn’t deserve a spot in the current Indian best eleven, especially in white ball cricket. One such example was when former Indian all-rounder and World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev said that Kohli’s reputation shouldn’t guarantee him a spot in the team.
Usman Khawaja trolls Kapil Dev
And while a whole bunch of critics would agree with Kapil, King Kohli is one of the leading sportsmen in terms of followers across the world, recently crossing the 200-million mark on Instagram as well. Obviously, many fans didn’t take Dev’s comments very well, while an Australian cricketer decided to share his own views as well.
Opening batsman Usman Khawaja found Dev’s comments quite hilarious and decided to troll him on social media. Kohli has tormented Australia in the past across formats and Khawaja decided to sarcastically respond to the former all-rounder’s comments, saying ‘Australia agrees’, while also listing down Kohli’s stats as an international cricketer.
Kapil Dev passed a statement saying that you can’t just go on reputation, and that current form matters as well. He said that you may be experienced but you can’t keep getting chances if you fail ‘five games in a row’. ICC decided to share a snippet of this statement on their Instagram page and Usman commented, “averages 50 at almost 140. Good call. Australia Agrees.”

With 70 international centuries under his belt, Kohli is a modern day great and even opposition players know that by now. It’s foolish to think that he’s done or that he needs to be benched, given his numbers across all formats. However, a few runs would really do his confidence great as he’s got only 1 and 11 in two recent T20Is against England.
He was rested for the first game of the 3-match series and when he returned to the side, he replaced an in-form Deepak Hooda. The argument is now that Kohli is taking up the place of potential run scorers and it’s at a crucial time before this year’s 2022 T20 World Cup takes place in Australia. Surely, the pressure has been building in recent months.

However, Kohli has had some memorable inning sin Australia where he’s produced many match-winning performances as well. He’s a little short of runs and we don’t expect such comments on him from top former Indian cricketers. As for Khawaja, he’s been in some decent form himself, making a return to the Aussie Test side a few months ago, making twin centuries in that game too.
His last appearance was in Sri Lanka where they took on the hosts for a series of 2 Tests, which ended in a 2-2 draw. For similar cricket and sports news from around the world, stay tuned to ReadScoops.com…
