Catching up with other states who have their own T20 franchise leagues, the Uttar Pradesh state federation also launched their own league with the first edition taking place in 2023. It was named the Uttar Pradesh T20 League and the first edition was played in style, with quite a few records tumbling with both bat as well as ball through the competition.
A few players rose to fame and we won’t be surprised if we see some of these names emerge in the IPL 2024 auction and maybe even further into the Men in Blue at the international stage. A successful first season means that there will be many more such tournaments in the years to come and here on this page on Read Scoops, we’ve compiled a complete UP T20 League winners list.
A total of 6 franchise teams participated in the inaugural edition – UP T20 League 2023 – and it was Meerut Mavericks who went on to top the UP T20 2023 points table with 7 wins in their 10 games, including 2 losses and one washed out game. Kashi Rudras finished fourth on the points table but they managed to win their semi final to set up the UP T20 League 2023 final with Meerut Mavericks.

Both teams batted well in their semi finals, with Kashi winning theirs by 26 runs and Meerut them winning their semi final by a whopping 51 runs. The Mavericks were clear favourites going into the UP T20 2023 final but past laurels never matter in such big games. Both teams were deserving finalists of the UP T20 League 2023 and there was a fantastic game in the final as well. Meerut only managed 146/8 in their 20 overs which was definitely a below par score at the Green Park in Kanpur. Rituraj Sharma top scored with 53 while Atal Bihari-Rai and Bobby Yadav were the pick of the bowlers, with 3 wickets each to their name.
Kashi Rudras – UP T20 League 2023 winners
Rudras captain Karan Sharma was the opener and he held it together at one end while 2 early wickets fell. He steadied the ship and then start racing to victory, finishing with 76(57) and getting out just before crossing the finish line. They finished the chase with 5 balls to spare and 7 wickets in hand too, as Kashi Rudras became the first UP T20 League winners.
