The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association launched their very own men’s professional T20 franchise league in 2023, known as the Uttar Pradesh T20 League. And while there hasn’t been a very long history behind the tournament so far, we saw some exceptional knocks with the bat as well as some electrifying bowling spells in the first edition itself.

The first player to achieve a triple digit score in the UP T20 League was Swastik Chikara who represented the Meerut Mavericks in the first edition of the tournament. The team led by Rinku Singh had Chikara batting at the top of the order and that allowed him to get not just one, but multiple entries in the UP T20 League centuries list, in the first season itself.

Chikara went on to score as many as three UP T20 centuries, which also took him to becoming the highest run scorer in the UP T20 League 2023 tournament. Despite all the big IPL and Team India names in the league, it was Chikara who shone in the first season. Apart from Chikara, Sameer Rizvi also got a century in this competition, when he smashed 122(59) for Kanpur Superstars in reply to Chikara’s first century of the league. This remains the only instance in the league where two UP T20 League centuries were scored in a single game. Rizvi’s 122 is also the highest individual score in the UP T20 League history so far.
With a few games left in the first season and many years left in the UP T20 League, along with the fact that there’s plenty of batting talent in this state, we can expect many many more centuries scored in this competition.
