See Virat Kohli Reaction After Dismissal Against MI

Former Team India and Royal Challengers Bangalore captain, Virat Kohli has been heavily under the pump for his performances and lack of big scores in the last couple of years. He lost is national side captaincy and even stepped down as RCB captain ahead of the IPL 2022 season, in hopes of playing freely as a batter without the burden of captaincy.

Earlier today, RCB was pitted up against 5-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians in Match 18 of the IPL 2022 season. Mumbai batted first and scored 151/6 in their 20 overs and Kohli was in action with the bat during the chase after they lost their captain Faf du Plessis early in the innings. And he was looking good until a controversial LBW decision was made.

IPL 2022 – Virat Kohli angry reaction after dismissal

RCB ended up winning the game in the 19th over and now has 3 wins in 4 games in the IPL 2022 season so far, with three wins on the trot after losing their season opener to Punjab Kings. Having not made a single fifty in the first three games, Kohli would’ve been determined to get a big score but was unfortunately adjudged LBW two runs short of his first fifty of the season.

He scored 48(36) and let out a loud roar of anger after he was given out off the bowling of Dewald Brevis from South Africa. The youngster known as ‘Baby AB’ was brought on to bowl for the first time in his IPL career and it was the most brilliant start for him as his first IPL delivery saw him getting a wicket, that too the one of the big fish, Virat.

After being given out, Kohli immediately reviewed the call because there was an inside edge from the bat onto the pad. It seemed pretty conclusive when we were looking at the slow motion replays. However, the third umpire saw it in a slightly different way as he went on to think that it was bat and pad together and there was no conclusive evidence to overturn the onfield call.

While the decision to give Kohli out didn’t really have an impact on the game because RCB was miles ahead, Kohli was furious. He played well and deserved to get to his first fifty of the season. And yes, this decision is going to be spoken about for days to come, as it did really seem like there was enough conclusive evidence to given him not out.

And upon going through the MCC laws of cricket, it was found that in case there is a situation of the ball hitting the striker’s pad and bat simultaneously, it will be considered as the ball having hit the bat first. This basically means it’s a wrong call on behalf of the umpires and you can see Kohli’s frustration below:
