Jaydev Unadkat Leads Saurashtra to Second Ranji Trophy Title

Two years ago, Saurashtra went on to win Ranji Trophy 2019/20 for the first time ever, after being a part of the Indian first-class tournament since ages. And today, they’ve gone on to create another very memorable moment in their cricketing history, going on to win Ranji Trophy 2022/23 and securing their second ever title in the history of this competition.

When you check out the Ranji Trophy winners list, you’ll not see Saurashtra’s name there too may times. Jaydev Unadkat Leads Saurashtra to Second Ranji Trophy Title

Saurashtra wins second Ranji Trophy title

Led by bowler Jaydev Unadkat, Saurashtra was ahead right through the final and they wrapped it up early in the first session on Day 4 of the final. Bengal was bowled out for 174 in their 1st innings and Saurashtra put up a massive 404 in reply, which meant Bengal had a lot to be done. They only managed 241 and set the champions 12 runs to win in the 2nd innings.

Captain Unadkat led from the front with 3 wickets in the 1st innings and a massive 6-fer in the 2nd innings, showing that he’s still got it in him to be playing cricket at the highest level, and possibly for Team India yet again. With the bat, five players got 50+ scores so it’s been a complete team effort, needing only 2.4 overs to chase down the 2nd innings total and win the Ranji Trophy 2022/23 by 9 wickets.
