But in yesterday’s game at the Indian Premier League, we saw veteran Indian businessman and Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka switching roles and getting super animated in a post-match chat that he had with his team’s captain.
LSG suffered an embarrassing loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the latter’s home ground in IPL 2024, after the visitors only put up 165/4 in their 40 overs. LSG captain KL Rahul was the slowest to get off the blocks in this batting innings as he scored 29(33) as the visiting side scored the lowest powerplay total of this year’s competition.

We’re sure Goenka would’ve been upset as the game progressed, because LSG failed to get a single SRH wicket. The home team got across the finish line with 10 overs and 10 wickets to spare, giving Lucknow a real drubbing in the process. And after the game was done, Goenka was seen apparently shouting at the Lucknow captain, in an animated conversation which you can see here:

“Obviously he deserved that bashing but did it have to be on camera? Lol” said one user on Twitter (X). Another user said that KL Rahul is a Team India player and should be treated with respect. While we’re not sure of the exact conversation, there are so many cameras in stadiums and this conversation should’ve definitely had behind close doors.

“This is just pathetic from @LucknowIPL owner. Never saw SRH management with players on the field or even closer to dressing room irrespective of so many bad seasons and still face lot of wrath for getting involved. Just look at this @klrahul leave this shit next year #SRHvsLSG” said another account which posted the original video of this incident.

Even the commentators on air during the broadcast mentioned that KL Rahul did well to keep his cool while Goenka took a swing at him. The emotions were certainly high, but Goenka has got carried away, and we’re sure that someone is going to pass on that message to him before his next appearance in an IPL 2024 match.
“No amount of money would keep me in my job if my employer would treat me like this. Outright unprofessional and unacceptable behaviour.” said another popular tweet online. With Delhi owner Parth Jindal showing some antics just a day before, another tweet was asking users who’s the worst owner in IPL 2024 between Goenka and Jindal.
