A couple of weeks ago, the fifteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) came to an end and we think it was one of the better editions of the T20 franchise league so far. For players, it was a much better opportunity as two new teams made their debut in IPL 2022 which means more raw talent on display over the course of the tournament.
While there are some big international names playing, there were some lesser known players who also came to the fore because of brilliant performances right through the tournament. And while many cricket experts and players picked their playing eleven of the series, today Read Scoops is picking their best combined playing eleven of IPL 2022. Keep reading to know our team…

We couldn’t leave out any of the tournament toppers in terms of scoring runs and picking wickets. Jos Buttler had a phenomenal season of 863 runs and that’s only the second highest score in a single IPL season in the tournament’s history. And with him, Lucknow Super Giants’ captain KL Rahul had another year of sublime consistency, scoring 600+ runs yet again.
Someone who was down and out and literally in the dumps with getting the axe from Team India too was Hardik Pandya, but the attitude that he brought into IPL 2022 was amazing. One look at his face and you’d know he was determined to take home the title. He led them to their maiden IPL victory with zero previous captaincy experience, so he is the captain or our IPL 2022 best XI as well.

Scoring 481 runs in 16 games, we think this was David Miller’s best career IPL season and what was most impressive was the 68.71 batting average which is the highest among anyone in IPL 2022. Like him, we were super impressed with Dinesh Karthik and his skills as the designated ‘finisher’ of the RCB side. 330 runs, an average of 55+ and a strike rate of 180+ got him a return call-up to the national team too!
Not many would recognise Rahul Tripathi in their best eleven teams for IPL 2022 but he peaked in the second half of the tournament. His counter-attacking knocks even when SRH was in trouble were worth watching, and he even went on to become the highest scoring uncapped player in IPL history in this latest season (1,798 runs).
We added Liam Livingstone to our best eleven because he showed a massive hitting ability. Most people though he wouldn’t be able to do that on Indian pitches but he did and the added benefit is that he can bowl if needed too. Among the bowlers, we’ve picked Yuzvendra Chahal and Wanindu Hasaranga by default because of the number of wickets they got this season (27 and 26 respectively). Additionally, we wanted to pick Josh Hazlewood because he bagged 20 scalps in just 12 games in IPL 2022 and this is after not having the reputation of being a T20 bowler.
Australia’s Pat Cummins played only 5 games in IPL 2022 but he made it count in those game with 7 scalps including a best of 3/22. Additionally, he was brilliant with the bat in one of those matches where he smashed the joint fastest fifty in IPL history.
