Asia Cup 2023: Twitter Reactions to Sri Lanka 50 All Out

Sri Lanka 50 all out

Expect to read such a headline or scorecard in a junior cricket game, or in associate level or even club level cricket. You don’t get to see an international ICC full-member team get bowled out for 50 runs too often, especially not in a major tournament’s final. After playing decent cricket right through the Asia Cup 2023 and qualifying for the final on 17 Sep 2023, Sri Lanka messed things up horribly to get 50 all out.

It’s not every day that such disasters take place and while the Indian pacers bowled brilliantly, there were some pretty poor shots being played by the host nation. They lost wickets at regular intervals, including being 13/6 at one point of time. The destructor-in-chief for India was new ball bowler, Mohammed Siraj, who once again shone against Sri Lanka in a limited overs match.

X reactions to Asia Cup final 2023

Twitter, now called X, had a field day with fun comments, ridiculing, and throwing stats to the public. Today, we’re going to take a look at some of the best of these comments and tweets. While a lot of the Indian fans were making fun of the Sri Lankan batting efforts, some people pointed out that India’s 36 all out is still the lowest international score. Hmm, interesting banter on X going on…

This not only became Sri Lanka’s lowest total in ODI history, but it’s also the lowest total by any team in a major tournament final, in the history of the game. And it wasn’t only the Indians who were applauding what just happened as former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar also took to X to post his views, calling this ‘destruction’ and ‘annihilation’.

You should also spare a thought for Washington Sundar who was drafted into the side in place of the injured Axar Patel, but Sri Lanka was bowled out before Sundar even got to hold the ball in this game. We don’t think he’ll even get a chance to bat as the target is only 51 runs, after the hosts got bundled out within 15.2 overs, not facing even a third of the allotted overs.

Indian fans ripped apart Daniel Alexander for drawing similarities to India’s 36 all out and today’s Asia Cup final 2023. It’s a completely one-sided final and we expect India to come out and chase this down within 10 overs at the most, strengthening their position as the most successful team in the Asia Cup history.
