Ravindra Jadeja Bats For Second Time in Warmup Game

There’s the historic Test waiting to be played between England and India as a continuation of the 2021/22 India tour of England which was not completed late last year because of the T20 World Cup drawing close. Now, there’s just the fifth Test to be played between 1-5 July 2022 and Team India is busy preparing for that final game now.

India’s currently leading the series 2-1 after four games and a draw will be good enough for them to walk away as winners in this series. However, they will need to be at their best as they haven’t played a lot here right now and England is in good form at home, currently leading 2-0 in the Test series against New Zealand. Hence, a warmup game was announced – India vs Leicestershire Foxes.

Ravindra Jadeja Bats For Second Time in Warmup Game

Ravindra Jadeja bats twice against Leicestershire

It’s an unofficial game so everyone on the bench can be tested out and India even had some of their squad members representing Leicestershire including Jasprit Bumrah, Cheteshwar Puajra, Prasidh Krishna, Rishabh Pant, and others. Today on Day 3 of the warmup game, Ravindra Jadeja was in the limelight for something you don’t hear of too often in professional cricket.

In fact, we’ve been watching the game since years and we don’t think we’ve ever seen anything like this happening before. In the 2nd innings of the game, Jadeja came out to bat at number #5 ahead of other top order batsmen like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. However, he was dismissed for a second ball duck by Navdeep Saini and had to make the long walk back, only to come back out again!

If you’re wondering what you just read, don’t worry. This actually happened. The point of the game is for everyone to get some practice and Jadeja was in need of some time out at the crease since he only got 13(13) in the 1st innings and then this duck in the 2nd innings. So the teams had a chat and allowed him to come out to bat once again. Here’s how he got dismissed for the first time in the 2nd innings:

India was batting at 255/7 with Virat Kohli having got a quickfire fifty when Jadeja decided to walk out to bat yet again, and have his third batting appearance of the 4-day match. It’s something we haven’t seen before and that wasn’t it at all, as before he walked out to bat at number #9, Cheteshwar Pujara batted at number #8, thus making batting appearances for both sides in this game.

A lot of fun seems to be taking place between these two sides and there’s still a day to go, so we expect to see some more first-time incidents in this game.ย For more updates from the 2021/22 India tour of England and the world of sports and cricket, make sure you always stay tuned to ReadScoops.com.
