With every state now having their own franchise T20 league, Rajasthan Cricket didn’t to fall behind. So, they launched the Rajasthan Premier League (RPL T20) which was launched and had its first season in 2023 itself. The league didn’t have to do much to get eyeballs because quite a few IPL and Team India players hail from Rajasthan, and were part of the various squads playing the RPL 2023 season.
The teams involved in the first season include Jaipur Indians, Jodhpur Sunrisers, Jaanbaaz Kota Challengers, Udaipur Lakecity Warriors, Shekhawati Soldiers Sikar, and Bhilwara Bulls. From them, the latter two teams were eliminated in the round robin and weren’t able to finish in the top four to make it to the RPL 2023 playoffs stage of the competition.
Jaipur Indians were all class right through the round robin, topping the RPL 2023 points table with 5 wins in 5 games and then going on to win Qualifier 1 by 1 run against Jodhpur to book a slot in the final. They were unbeaten going into the final, where they found their opponent to be the Jodhpur Sunrisers once again. They won Qualifier 2 against Udaipur to set up an exciting first ever Rajasthan Premier League final.

There were quite a few amazing individual performances with both bat and ball through RPL 2023, but at the end of the day, it’s a team sport. Both teams played immensely well in this, the first edition of the Rajasthan Premier League. However, only one could emerge as RPL 2023 winners and that was Jaipur Indians, who won by 5 wickets in the RPL 2023 final on 11th September 2023. There was a 3-day break after the playoffs and Jaipur completed an easy chase, winning by 5 wickets.
Batting first, the Sunrisers scored 168, being bowled out on the final ball of their innings. Abhijeet Tomar top scored with 58 while the Jaipur captain Shubham Garhwal was brilliant with the ball, picking up 5/32 in the all-important RPL 2023 final. In the chase, opener Divya Gajraj scored 93 at the top while Garhwal scored 30(20), as Jaipur ended the tournament unbeaten, winning with one ball to spare.
