Pune Olympia T20 2024 – Team Scores Record 324/4!

Every now and then, we see T20 records shattering all across the world and each time, we think we’ve reached the pinnacle. We think certain records can never be broken, but we get proved wrong again and again. Just earlier today, we saw some stunning T20 hitting in the ongoing Pune Olympia T20 Trophy 2024, in a game of Recreation Cricket Club vs Nok 99.

Here, Nok99 was batting first and their decided to hit the cricket ball to every corner of the ground, which is the Shinde High School Ground, Pune. The 9am start game saw big hitting, especially towards the latter half of the 1st innings, as Nok 99 put up a record T20 score of 324/4, which included a further batting record of three batsmen getting centuries.

Nok 99 scores 324/4 in T20 game in Pune

It was carnage right from the start from the Nok 99 batsmen, going at a run rate of 12-13 and more in the first 10 overs. However, the back end of the innings saw an even further acceleration. Opener Abhimanyu Jadhav scored 112(55) and this innings included 15 fours and 5 sixes, scoring at a strike rate of 203.

But who knew that his would be the lowest strike rate of the centurions, as number #3 batsman Shubham Taiswal scored 102(35) with 3 fours and 13 sixes, and a whopping strike rate of 291. Coming out to bat at number #4 though was someone who will go down in the tournament’s history books, smashing his way to a 26-ball century.

We’re talking about Suraj Shinde (Suraj Shine on some websites) who hit 102(26)* and remained unbeaten at the end, hitting 3 fours and 14 sixes in his knock which went at a strike rate of 391. Unbelievable numbers, and something we may never get to see at the highest level of professional cricket.

The bowling team only gave away 3 extras in the 20 overs, but still conceded 324/4, which would’ve been trauma for the bowlers on the day. While all the bowlers were targetted, it was Recreation Club’s Saurabh Sanklecha who had the worst economy rate of them all, going for 0/36 in his only one over bowled in the game.

The chase was never going to be on in the first place, needing in excess of 16 runs per over from the start. And then RCC succumbed to 17/4 in the 7th over, which showed that scoreboard pressure cracked the chasing team early on itself.
