Big news came in yesterday as 12 members of the Chennai Super Kings camp tested positive for the much feared corona virus. We’re not sure of who those players are but it was confirmed that it was a mix of players as well as members of management which also included one Team India fast bowler, who we could only guess as Shardul Thakur or Deepak Chahar.
For some reason however, none of the names were revealed. Now, a few minutes ago, reports have come in of ace batsman and former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina pulling out of the much awaited IPL 2020 season, citing ‘personal reasons’. Again, we’ve not been given much of details as to why he’s pulling it of the tournament, but he will be flying back to India from UAE now.
This is going to be a big blow for the 3-time champions Chennai Super Kings as Raina has been one of the leading run scorers in IPL history, in competition with the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The 33-year old recently announced his retirement from international cricket after his guru and mentor MS Dhoni made his retirement announcement.
The 33-year old hasn’t confirmed what the reason is but people are speculating that he could be among those who tested positive, and is probably heading home for health concerns. It could also be possible that he wants to be safe from the virus after his team members tested positive. It was the CSK CEO KS Viswanathan who took to their official Twitter handle to confirm the news of Raina missing IPL 2020. See below:

Raina has scored 4,527 runs from 164 IPL games for CSK and holds the record for most consecutive games for the franchise, playing 158 consecutive games before missing one with a calf injury in IPL 2018.
