SLC National Super League Limited Overs Tournament Winners List

While List A cricket has been taking place at the regional level in Sri Lanka for many years now, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) decided to make some changes going into the 2021-22 season. This includes introducing a new limited overs tournament called the SLC National Super League Limited Overs Tournament (NSLLOT), with the first season taking place in 2022.

National Super League has a 4-day tournament as well but on this page, we’re talking about the one day tournament. Five teams based on regions in the country are the participants of the tournament including Kandy, Dambulla, Colombo, Jaffna, and Galle. The first edition of the tournament took place in 2022 and Kandy topped the points table, but they lost the NSLLOT 2022 final to Jaffna by 37 runs. The next year, Dambulla had a great season with 7 wins out of 8 league stage games, and then went on to win the NSLLOT 2023 final against Jaffna, beating them by 5 wickets.

With just 5 regional teams in the mix, we think that all of them have the chance of claiming the trophy over the next few years of the competition. But as of now, only 2 seasons are complete and we can see below for our complete National Super League one day winners list, last updated 10th March 2024, at the end of the NSLLOT 2024 season:

In both the completed finals so far, we’ve noticed that there have been very good all-round performances on the day that matters most. Both of Dunith Wellalage and Sonal Dinusha contributed with bat and ball to take their respective teams home at the end of the respective NSLLOT finals.

The 50-over competition is a stepping stone for youngster who want to showcase their talent and make the Sri Lankan limited overs national squads. It’s an important tournament in Sri Lanka’s regional circuit and we expect to see more batting and bowling stats as a few more seasons go by over the years.

In 2024, we saw a shortened version of the event where each team played each other only once, and yet again, it was Dambulla who topped the 2024 points table. They took on Kandy in the final, marking the second final for each of them, and the first time that Jaffna hadn’t made the SLC National Super League final for the limited overs tournament.
