WATCH: Marcus Stoinis Accuses Hasnain of Chucking

The Hundred 2022 is underway in England where players from across the world are representing different regional based franchises in a unique 100-ball format of the game. Today, we saw something very uncommon happening as one of the overseas players was seen accusing another overseas player of cheating in the game.

We’re referring to Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis who was playing in The Hundred 2022 Match 14 of the men’s competition for Southern Brave, where he was dismissed and was then later seen accusing Pakistani pacer Mohammad Hasnain of chucking. The latter represents Oval Invincibles and the video of this incident has gone viral on social media.

Marcus Stoinis accuses Hasnain of chucking

The all-rounder is known for his big hitting especially in the shorter formats of the game. Here, he was trying to up the pace for the Brave when a bouncer from Hasnain saw Stoinis lose control and sky one up, only to be caught by Will Jacks at mid-off. While trudging off the ground, Stoinis was seen sporting a face of disbelief, later gesturing that Hasnain was in fact chucking.

While this has been a matter of concern for the Pakistani pacer in the past, he has been cleared by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for having a legal action and we don’t think Stoinis acted in a very professional manner. He was still walking off the ground when he was seen imitating Hasnain’s action, also implying that it was being thrown/chucked rather than being bowled the right way.

Social media since then has gone into a tizzy as a majority of the users have questioned Stoinis’ regard for the game, and his sportsmanship as a whole. While there are match referees and officials to look into such matters, Stoinis decided to take matters into his own hands, which has looked a bit poor in him, honestly. His innings of 37(27) yesterday included 2 fours and 2 sixes.

Eventually, Brave went on to put up 137/6 in their 100 balls, Stoinis was the top scorer, and Reece Topley ended as the best bowler for Invincibles with his 3/24 in 20 deliveries. However, this wasn’t even close to being enough as the latter chased this down with absolute ease and comfort, winning with 7 wickets and 18 balls to spare, thanks to an unbeaten century from the young Will Jacks.

Remember that Hasnain already has a remodelled action coming into this tournament and while Stoinis may get into trouble with authorities, we’re sure that the ICC will scrutinise Hasnain’s bowling action once again. He was expensive on the day even though he picked the wicket of Stoinis, ending with 1/27 in just 15 deliveries bowled in this game.

The Hundred 2022 has been a spectacle so far and we expect it to continue over the next few weeks till a winner is crowned in the second edition of this new tournament. For similar updates on The Hundred and other cricketing stories from around the world, stay tuned to ReadScoops.com
