Malaysia Bowls Out Thailand For 30 Runs in T20!

Currently, the 2022 Malaysia T20I Quadrangular Series is taking place between 2-11 July 2022 which is giving four Asian countries a chance to get some T20I exposure. Hosted by the Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA), every team will play seven games each in the league stage before the grand final takes place, with all games played at the UKM-YSD Cricket Oval in Bangi, Malaysia.

Malaysia, Bhutan, Thailand, and Maldives are the four participating nations and this series is vital because none apart from the host nation had played any T20I cricket this year, prior to this series. Of course then, Malaysia has the upper hand along with the home advantage, and they asserted their dominance today as they bowled out Thailand for just 30 runs!

Malaysia Bowls Out Thailand For 30 Runs in T20!

Thailand bowled out for just 30!

Yes you read that correct. Today was Match 4 of the Malaysia T20I quadrangular series and the host nation’s third appearance so far in the series. Prior to this, they had already beaten Bhutan and Maldives, and they today beat Thailand to go 3 out of 3 so far this series. But the highlight of the game was not the victory but the fact that they skittle out Thailand for just 30 runs.

Thailand elected to bat first in this game that took place on Monday, 4th July 2022, and they wouldn’t have expected to be back in their hotel rooms so quickly. What followed was complete embarrassment as they lost wicket after wicket on a slow track, ending up 30 all out after being able to face just 13.1 overs out of the allotted 20 overs.

The main damage was done by medium pacer Syazrul Idrus who bowled with the new ball. He first bowled in the second over and struck on all the final three balls of his first over. If you check out the Malaysia vs Thailand scorecard of this game, you’ll see wickets on all of 1.4, 1.5, and 1.6 which indicated that Idrus picked up a hat-trick as well.

He picked up 3 wickets in the last game against Bhutan too but here, he went on to get 4/17 in his four overs, picking up another wicket within the powerplay itself. What’s funny is that even though he was the best bowler and went on to win the Man of the Match award, he was in fact the most expensive bowler, giving away runs at 4.25 per over, and contributing to more than half of the Thailand total.

The Syazrul Idrus hat-trick included the wickets of Sorawat Desungnoen, Jeerasak Pakhiaokajee, and Chaloemwong Chatphaisan, before coming back later and accounting for the wicket of Narawit Nuntarach as well. It was a great day out for him and Malaysia, as they came out and chased the target in just 3.5 overs, ending with 34/1 and registering a 9-wicket victory in this game.

They’re on top of the points table in this quadrangular series and they’re expected to go on to win it pretty easily as well. For similar cricket and sports news from around the world, stay tuned to ReadScoops.com
