Three successful seasons of the Lanka Premier League (LPL T20) have been played so far and it’s been one side traffic in terms of the competition in these seasons, with the Jaffna franchise winning all these three editions. Now, we’re set for the fourth edition of the tournament which for the first time won’t be played in the December slot that we’ve seen it in all this time.
Now, the tournament has been moved up a few months and we can imagine that it’s because the Dec/Jan window is packed with other T20 leagues like Super Smash, Big Bash, ILT20, SA20, and the Bangladesh League as well. Lanka Premier League 2023 dates
The LPL 2023 dates have finally bee announced and the tournament will take place between 31 Jul – 22 Aug 2023. Organised by Sri Lanka Cricket, a total of 24 T20 games will be played during this time which is almost one game per day on the LPL 2023 schedule. It’s the first time that the Lanka T20 League will be played during the rainy season of Jul/Aug, and we wonder how this will fare.
Another very important date on the LPL 2023 calendar is the LPL 2023 Auction as it’s the first time this format will be adopted since the inception of the league. Each of the teams will be allocated a purse of $500,000 where they will be required to sign between 20-24 players, with all five teams having 5 players each right now. The LPL 2023 Auction takes place on 14th June 2023.

LPL 2023 schedule
The first game on the LPL 2023 schedule will be played on 31st July 2023 and while the official schedule is yet to be announced, we can only speculate that it’ll be a rematch of the LPL 2022 final which was Colombo Stars vs Jaffna Kings. The Stars have now rebranded to Colombo Strikers ahead of the LPL 2023 season.
At the time of writing this, the LPL 2023 dates were announced but not the complete schedule, last updated 8th June 2023. We’ll update the complete LPL 2023 fixtures here once they’re out or you can also check the official schedule here on Cricbuzz. Matches will kick off at 8pm local time on a daily basis and we hope there won’t be any postponement in LPL 2023, like there was in previous editions of the competition.
