Lanka Premier League (LPL) Centuries List

It’s not too often that batters get to the century mark in the shortest form of the game but in recent years, T20 centuries are getting more and more common. As bats and biceps become bigger of batsmen across the world, reaching the 3-figure mark in T20 cricket has become increasingly easier and something that happens more often in franchise leagues around the globe.

One such T20 franchise league which began in 2020 is the Lanka Premier League (LPL) and you won’t be surprised to know that players have reached the magical century milestone in the slower and lower pitches in Sri Lanka too. Here, we’ve compiled a complete list of Lanka Premier League centuries from inception in LPL 2020 till date…

Lanka Premier League (LPL) Centuries List

While the league hasn’t always had the biggest international stars in attendance, it was great to see that the first Lanka Premier League century was actually scored by England’s Laurie Evans, who smashed an unbeaten 108* in the inaugural edition back in LPL 2020 where he represented the Colombo Kings (now Colombo Strikers).

Since that first LPL T20 century, other batsmen have also scored centuries in this league but till date, (last updated 7th August 2023), the highest individual score in this league remains to be that first century by Evans. Due to the short history of the league, we have only a total of 4 centuries in the Lanka Premier League, with all being unique players and no batsman yet to score a century on multiple occasions. After Evans, Sri Lanka’s Avishka Fernando, West Indies’ Andre Fletcher, and Pakistan’s Babar Azam also managed to get an LPL century each, doing so in LPL 2021, LPL 2022, and LPL 2023 respectively.

Three different franchises have representation in this LPL centuries list, with players from the Colombo, Jaffna, and Kandy franchises to reach this milestone, while the Dambulla and Galle franchises are yet to feature in this elite list. As for Fernando, he didn’t just come to light because of this century and has actually been pretty consistent, among the top run scorers in LPL history.

Quite a few times, players have missed on getting LPL centuries including Thisara Perera who got a top score of 97*, Danushka Gunathilaka who got a score of 94*, and Avishka Fernando himself missing out on another century, with a knock of 92* in the first edition of the tournament itself. While this list is a short one today, we expect several more up and coming names to join the LPL centuries list in time.
