A lot of whispers are running around before the deadline for the list of rententions of the different teams before IPL 2022. One such report that we spoke about earlier today is that of who Chennai Super Kings will retain ahead of the mega auction. Now, we’re hearing about what the future will be for Punjab Kings and Team India wicket-keeper and opening batsman, KL Rahul.
He’s captain Punjab over the last couple of seasons and has been one of the top run scorers in the league as well. However, Punjab has been consistently failing in the IPL over the years, yet to win a single trophy in 14 seasons. On the other hand, there are a couple of new franchises being introduced to the tournament for IPL 2022 and Rahul thinks he could be a great fit in a fresh environment there.
With Lucknow being one of the new teams in the mix, we’re hearing that KL Rahul will leave Punjab and Lucknow is all set to rope him in. Being in great touch right now, he could be one of the highest fetching batsmen in the IPL 2022 auction. Ravi Bishnoi and Arshdeep Singh are some of the young talents in the Punjab franchise and they may consider retaining them, while Shahrukh Khan could be retained too.
With the two new teams coming with a big purse value to the IPL 2022 auction, we expect some big bidding wars among the 10 teams in the auction. KL Rahul’s form, especially in white ball cricket, has been remarkable, and there’s no reason why Lucknow wouldn’t want to pay big bucks for him. He could also put in a word for others, which means his opening partner Mayank Agarwal could move too.
