CSK To Retain Dhoni, Gaikwad, Jadeja For IPL 2022

The Indian Premier League’s (IPL) next edition may be quite a few months away but the hype and buzz around IPL 2022 is at a high sine this year, there will be another mega auction and teams will only be able to retain 4 players for the next season. The deadline to submit the retention list is 30 Nov and as per a recent report in Indian Express, we have an idea of who will be retained by Chennai Super Kings.

CSK To Retain Dhoni, Gaikwad, Jadeja For IPL 2022

As per this report, CSK has offered a 3-year extension and will retain their captain MS Dhoni. Due to his declining form with the bat and obviously his age, it’s unlikely he plays through the period of the contract but no side would want to let go of him either. Earlier this year, he hinted at wanting to play his final match in Chennai, in front of CSK home fans.

The report further states that young gun Ruturaj Gaikwad will be retained by the side, and that was a real no-brainer considering his form. In only his second season in the T20 league, he scored 600+ runs in IPL 2021 and was a major factor in helping CSK win the title, as he settled with the Orange Cap award for most runs in the season as well.

The third of the retention list is Ravindra Jadeja and with the kind of form he’s shown in the past couple of seasons, there’s no way he’ll be let go. We believe he’s someone who may play at CSK till the end of his career. Blistering death overs hitting, a lot of wickets and electric in the outfield – he’s someone every T20 team will love to have.

It’s likely that CSK may want overseas player Moeen Ali as their fourth retention but if that doesn’t do through, they may approach his countryman Sam Curran. The younger of the lot, it would make sense to retain Curran and invest in the younger generation. For similar sports news and updates from around the world, stay tuned to ReadScoops.com
