Having played at the start of the T20 revolution, Pietersen himself took time to get used to the shorter format. Being a part of the broadcasting team for the tournament, he said, “I think it’s also my job as a broadcaster to put my best foot forward and throw myself into things.”

He also mentioned about how The Hundred 2021 will be the toughest for analysts and statisticians because the competition has no historical data or comparison points. It’s a fresh start and there’s always nerves when you’re set to begin something completely new. Pietersen however, expressed his displeasure about the fact that there were drop outs just before The Hundred could kick off.
“It’s completely understandable, but it’s frustrating to watch so many big names pull out of The Hundred, and I just hope that its credentials are still intact without the pull of those huge names. With quite a few of the big England players quite rightly focusing on the Test series with India, there are a fair number of star attractions not involved,” he added.
