IPL 2024: Twitter Reactions to Virat Kohli’s Record 8th IPL Century!

What we’ve witnessed today in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is not something you may have seen too many times before. We call this man the Master, we call him Superhuman, we call him the G.O.A.T, but no name is good enough for him, as he keeps outdoing himself as his cricketing career progresses. Another day, another feather in the cap for Virat Kohli!

Today was Match 19 of IPL 2024, being played at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Royal Challengers Bangalore were reeling at the bottom of the IPL 2024 points table with only 1 win in 4 games including two losses at home, and this game was a vital one for them. And after being put in to bat first, Kohli and his opening partner Faf du Plessis got off to a dream start.

IPL 2024: Twitter Reactions to Virat Kohli's Record 8th IPL Century!

IPL 2024: 8th IPL century for Virat Kohli

Kohli and Faf put up 125 runs for the opening wicket, which was the highest partnership for any wicket in IPL 2024 so far. Additionally, Kohli furthered another record of being involved in the most 100-run stands in IPL history, bringing up his 28th. Furthermore, another record was broken as he became the first batter in IPL history to score 7,500 career runs.

But the God of consistency didn’t want his record-breaking to end there. He looked in good form right from the first ball of the game and even got to his fifty with a six straight down the ground. And while Faf and Glenn Maxwell had to go, Kohli kept striking the ball, getting closer to a record 8th IPL century – with Chris Gayle having the next best (6 IPL centuries).

Playing in his 242nd IPL match today, Kohli was dropped off Nandre Burger earlier in the game and he’s not really someone you want to give a chance to in a T20 game. After no centuries in each of IPL 2020, IPL 2021, and IPL 2022, Kohli got one in IPL 2023 with 101* and after getting his third fifty of the season earlier in this game, he went on to convert to a century. You know you’re special if even the opposition is praising you:

The KING carried the RCB side on his own today in Jaipur and entertained millions of fans across the world on this Saturday night. He started the match with the Orange Cap and he ensured to keep it for a while longer, with the Kohli 8th IPL century coming up in the 18th over; he took 67 deliveries to reach there.

Kohli scored 4 IPL centuries in IPL 2016 where he also got his IPL best score of 113 runs. Today, he decided to better that score, eventually ending with 113(72)* in an innings which included 12 fours and a magical 4 sixes. The GOAT, showing us why he’s the best in the world. We’re hoping for many more big scores through the rest of the IPL 2024 season for Kohli.

The best tweet was that by Daren Ganga, who said, “@imVkohli writes his own destiny when it comes to batting and scoring runs. An all time great player who should have the autonomy to play any international format and for however long he desires. IPL Century #8 @IPL #TATAIPL2024”
