The Indian Premier League (IPL) is easily the biggest T20 franchise league in the world and the IPL 2022 season is set to be the biggest of them all so far, with a mega auction happening prior to the tournament, and two new teams being added to the IPL as well. And prior to IPL 2022, each team was allowed to retain/draft a maximum of four players going into the mega auction.
The dates of the IPL 2022 season are yet to be finalised but one thing we know for sure is that it’s likely to take place in April/May as it does each year. While each team was allowed to retain a maximum of 4 players (maximum three Indian and maximum two overseas), the two new franchises had no players on their roster so they were involved in an IPL 2022 Player Draft, where Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants picked up three players each.
