Fifteen years of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and this upcoming IPL 2022 Auction will probably be the most excited and most anticipated one as yet. Why?! Well, firstly it’s a mega auction and that’s always fun because some really big names go under the hammer. Secondly, with the likes of Lucknow and Ahmedabad joining for the IPL 2022 season, we’re going to be some big splurging happening here.
Everyone’s been asking us about the IPL 2022 auction date And time and until yesterday, we had no idea ourselves. However, we recently heard reports that the IPL 2022 mega auction will take place in Bengaluru and will be a 2-day affair, obviously because of the number of players that need to be showcased in this auction.
There have been a lot of rumours over the last many weeks about which teams will be interested in which players, but these rumours can only be put to rest once the IPL Auction 2022 actually takes place. All the teams presented their IPL 2022 retention lists a month ago and the recent controversy is that of CVC Sports and whether they’ll be allowed to be team owners of Ahmedabad for IPL 2022.
IPL 2022 Auction Date And Time
We don’t have a fixed date or time yet for the IPL 2022 auction but as per reports coming in today, it’s likely to be held over 2 days in Bengaluru, and the IPL 2022 auction dates are most likely going to be 12 and 13 Feb 2022. While there’s no official confirmation yet on the date and time of the IPL auction 2022, the same was confirmed by a BCCI official.
“Unless the COVID-19 situation worsens, we will have the IPL mega auction in India. The two-day event will be held on February 7 and 8 and like other years, we plan to hold it in Bengaluru. Preparations are underway,” said a senior BCCI official to PTI in an earlier statement, but on clear conditions of anonymity. And given it’s an indoor event with limited people involved, we don’t think it’ll be shifted out of India.

There were initial reports of whether the IPL 2022 auction could be held in UAE and with the situation well under control in India right now, we don’t think those plans are going ahead. However, with the Omicron variant quickly spreading in India, we can’t say how things could change in the next one month or so.
People on social media are guessing and speculating until then, with reports of KL Rahul captaining the Lucknow franchise and other reports of Manish Pandey being brought in as new RCB captain, and further speculations about whom the Pandya brothers will play for in the IPL 2022 season.
But we won’t say much until we have confirmed news about these developments and until then, let’s build up the hype for this mega IPL 2022 auction, which we hope will happen in Bengaluru itself.
