You may be thinking that every now and then, a new T20 or T10 franchise league pops up, and it’s difficult to keep a track of all of them. However, a completely new concept was introduced earlier this year called the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) T10 which combined the idea of franchise competitions with the age-old street cricket format.
ISPL T10 launched in 2024 with the first such tennis ball franchise tournament, with the team owners being popular Bollywood and other celebrities. Some of the team owners for ISPL 2024 included Hrithik Roshan, Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Ram Charan, Suriya, and Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan. The six participating teams that were launched along with the inaugural ISPL 2024 season were Majhi Mumbai, Srinagar Ke Veer, Bangalore Strikers, Falcon Risers Hyderabad, Tiigers of Kolkata, and Chennai Singams. The high-profile owners brought a lot of popularity to the league before it even began while a celebrity exhibition tennis-ball match on the opening day helped as well, where the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Suresh Raina also participated.

Sony Ten 2 was the official broadcaster while SonyLIV had the digital rights for the season, with all games being played at the Dadaji Kondadev Stadium in Thane. Two games were scheduled daily apart from the opening day and the final, with the daily ISPL matches scheduled at 5pm and 7:30pm respectively.
“Ab Chalte Hai Street to Stadium” is the tagline of the tournament, and that’s exactly what the tournament aims to do. ISPL T10 is a catalyst for nurturing talented cricketers from playing tennis cricket on the streets, to playing on a televised platform. It’s a stepping stone for people to move into bigger professional leagues.
