Gujarat Titans Crowned IPL 2022 Champions

It’s the end of an era. A new champion has been crowned. After 6 years, we’ve found a new franchise to win the Indian Premier League (IPL) and it’s the Gujarat Titans who have won their maiden IPL title in their maiden IPL season as well. They topped the IPL 2022 points table, won the Qualifier 1 and had a smooth-sailing final as well.

They’ve had the most amazing season and they deserve to be crowned champions, ending a very one-sided IPL 2022 final a few minutes ago. They were on top of the game right from the start, getting early wickets and regular wickets as well. Eventually, they restricted Rajasthan to only 130/9 which became the second lowest score in the history of IPL finals.

Gujarat Titans win IPL 2022

It’s a huge achievement for the team as they were the most inexperienced squad coming into the tournament and most people didn’t think they had a chance coming into IPL 2022. The captain Hardik Pandya also didn’t really have much of captaincy experience coming into the tournament, but he was great with his troops right through the season.

Additionally, he was great in the final personally too. He hadn’t bowled much right through the tournament and then came out today to bowl the second best figures in an IPL final by a captain, after Anil Kumble’s 4/19 in the IPL 2009 final. He picked up 3 crucial wickets and was active in the field too, before he came out and built the match-winning partnership with Shubman Gill after they lost two early wickets.

Everyone chipped in today including Gill, David Miller, Lockie Ferguson, Mohammed Shami, and many others. It’s truly been a great team effort led by someone who is now a potential Team India future captain as well. The smiles and hugs that followed after the game showed that it also meant a lot to everyone in the team, including the support staff and management.

Coming to the chase, Gujarat won with 7 wickets to spare and the men out there at the time of crossing the line were Miller and Gill. They won it with 11 balls to spare and completed a truly classical game. Pandya was easily the best player of the day and he was awarded the Man of Match award for the same.
