U-19 Quadrangular 2020 – SA-Y vs IN-Y Fantasy Preview

South Africa will be hosting India U-19, Zimbabwe U-19 and New Zealand U-19 for a Quadrangular series at home as the U-19 T20 World Cup approaches near. On the opening day, all four teams will be in action and the major focus will be on Match 1 where India U-19 is up against hosts South Africa U-19, with the former’s players having much more exposure in recent months.

These two teams played each other in a bilateral series not too long ago, where India U-19 emerged victorious 2-1 and I’d expect India to remain favourite for this encounter too, and probably even to go on and win the series. Be careful while selecting teams for the first game. Keep reading for our complete Howzat (sign-up with code “READ1234”) fantasy preview of the SAY vs INY game…

Numbers

  • Last 5 games head to head, India U19 leads 3-2.
  • Yashasvi Jaiswal – 6 wickets in last 2 games against SA U-19.
  • Jonathan Bird – 2 consecutive centuries against PAK U19 in July.
  • Andrew Louw in that series against India U19 – 26, 24, 31.

South Africa U-19

South Africa has also named the same squad that played India recently. Skipper Bryce Parsons played only 1 game in that series with 15 runs and no wickets but he’s the best player in the side and could also be selected as your captain or vice-captain. With the bat, Jonathan Bird top scored in that series with 129 runs in 3 games and a top score of 88*, so he can be picked too.

Andrew Louw hasn’t got any fifties in his last 10 professional games but he has been consistently getting starts with 81 runs in 3 games against India recently, so he’s a worthy selection. Another player who has been impressing since the U15’s stage is Achille Cloete and he picked 3 scalps in 2 games in that series, so we expect him to do well here too.

India U-19

First name in my fantasy team sheet today has to be Yashasvi Jaiswal who is way above the rest in this series in terms of talent. In his last 10 professional games, he has 3 fifties and 3 centuries including 203 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy against some really good bowlers. An added bonus is that he can be a wicket-taker too. Another all-rounder pick is Ravi Bishnoi and he’s a must-have today!

In case you didn’t know, Bishnoi bagged an INR 2 Crore contract at the IPL 2020 Auction and he’s one to watch out for. He bagged 5 wickets in his 2 recent games against SA U-19. Another player to add to your Howzat (sign-up with code “READ1234”) fantasy team is Shubhang Hedge who has exposure in leagues like KPL and he can bat and bowl both, picking 2 wickets in 2 games against SA U-19, but having abilities of a match-winner.
