It’s been a long league stage at the Vitality T20 Blast 2022 in England and we’ve boiled down to the final few games at the knockout stage. It’s now the four quarter finals which begins with this one on 6th July. On one hand we have Surrey who has been in great form this season with 10 wins in 14 games, topping South Group but losing their last round robin game to Somerset by a massive margin of 47 runs.
They take on Yorkshire who hasn’t got the best record this season with only 7 wins from their quota of 14 league stage games, coming into this quarter final with two consecutive losses. However, knockout games are all about who performs better on the day and both teams may be boosted by returns from the national side Test squad. Surrey
Chris Jordan had 73 runs and 3 wickets in the last game but he’s joined the white ball side to play India and will be unavailable here. Instead, opening batsman Will Jacks will captain the side and we’re picking him in our SUR vs YOR fantasy team even though he got a duck in the last game, because he’s got five fifties this year so far. Laurie Evans is someone who can hit the ball a long way in the T20 format and we can pick him too.
However, we’re expecting Ollie Pope to return to the side after the 5th Test against India which means Evans may bat further down the order. Pope has been in good touch and we’re picking him in our SUR vs YOR Dream11 team too. Aaron Hardie is an Australian all-rounder who can contribute in both departments while another person high on confidence after his Test debut last month is Jamie Overton, so we’re adding both to our team.
Yorkshire
After leading England to victory in the 5th Test, Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow are both in the ODI squad, so they won’t be available for this quarter final. David Willey joins the national side and is unavailable too, with Adam Lyth taking over as captain. Lyth has a good record with scores of 69 and 52 here in the last couple of games. Their batting order has been severely crippled with Dawid Malan also joining the national side.

He was expensive in the last game but Shadab Khan is experienced and you’d think he can bounce back and be among the wickets.
