There may have been a temptation to bring in Charith Asalanka but after his failures in the warmups, he’s unlikely to play, especially since Bhanuka Rajapaksa also got runs in the middle order. Our top batting pick will continue to be Avishka Fernando as he had 3 fifties in 4 games prior to the start of the 2021 T20 World Cup Qualifiers and had 30* in the first game, so should be a part of your SL vs IRE fantasy team.

If you want an additional batting option, there’s Dinesh Chandimal who has sort of revived his international career in the last 6 months or so, and is worth picking in your SL vs IRE Dream11 team especially since his failure in the last game means not many will want him. Maheesh Theekshana will be a popular pick after his 3-fer in the last game but I’ll go with the more consistent leg-spinner in Wanindu Hasaranga who also got 2 wickets in that game.

Ireland

Keep an eye out on middle order batter Gareth Delany who is brother of Laura Delany who scored 88* in the warmup against Bangladesh and 44(29) in the first game against Netherlands. He hasn’t been regularly in the team but is someone to watch out for. Paul Stirling also can’t be left out because he had consecutive centuries at this ground earlier this year, has played the T10 League here too, and bowls very often.

We made Curtis Campher our captain in the last game and he picked 4 wickets, though his stronger suit is certainly bowling.
