It’s the first game of the 2022 West Indies tour of Pakistan and we resume the historic series with the ODI series where three games will be played, all at Multan. Late last year, West Indies decided to travel to this part of the world for 3 T20s and 3 ODIs and the series had to be postponed after the hosts won all the three scheduled T20Is at Karachi. We’re back for the rescheduled part of this tour now.
Pakistan is one of the better white ball sides in the world right now and they’ll be confident coming into this home series. On the other hand, Windies recently beat Netherlands 3-0 as warmup coming into this tour. Looking at historical data, West Indies has played only one ODI at this ground, and won it too. Pakistan
The top two wicket-takers in ODIs at this ground are Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Malik which means assistance for spinners. Shadab Khan last played an ODI in July 2021 thanks to a groin injury but he’s back as vice-captain and we’re picking him in our PAK vs WI fantasy team. Mohammad Nawaz is another spin option in the team but with Shadab coming back, we’re not sure if Nawaz will find himself a spot in the team.
Among the bowlers, we think Haris Rauf is surely going to be someone to contend with purely because he’s added a little bit of line and length to his dangerous speed. At the top of the order, Babar Azam is almost always among the runs while Mohammad Rizwan is enjoying a purple patch as well. Rizwan has recently flown in from England where he had a stint in the County Championship playing for Sussex, and he’ll have that added experience under his belt now.
West Indies
Having missed the series against Netherlands because of visa issues, Rovman Powell and Romario Shepherd come back into the squad and as per us, both of them slot directly into the playing eleven as well. Powell recently played in IPL 2022 in similar conditions and he’s a must in your PAK vs WI Dream11 team. As for Shepherd, he’s a big hitter of the cricket ball but we’ve seen him being used more with the ball at this level.

Against Netherlands, Brandon King ended the final game of the series with an unbeaten 91 and we think he’s another must have in your MyFab11 (sign-up with code “READAD46“) PAK vs WI fantasy team. He’s consistent and has played in this part of the world as well. With the ball, we’re going to favour spinners and the first one for us will be Akeal Hosein while Hayden Walsh Jr is an option if he’s playing this game.
