When Tanzania set out on their tour of Zimbabwe 2020, they knew it was going to be a tough series of 6 T20 games, all played at the same ground and against the same opposition – Zimbabwe domestic side Mid West Rhinos. After a few 130-odd scores, we’ve had a couple of 150+ scores and we’ve noticed it being chased down as well in the last couple of games.
Rhinos have shown that they’ve liked chasing of late, getting 151 in the 4th T20 and then scoring 156 to win the 5th T20, so we now know that any score below 150-160 is not necessarily a safe score, especially for Tanzania. Numbers
- Tanzania is ranked at 43rd in the ICC T20I Rankings.

- Tarisai Musakanda in 5 games this series – 3, 10, 31, 20 and 45*.
Mid West Rhinos
First person in my MWR vs TAN 6th T20 fantasy preview here will have to be Brandon Mavuta and while it’s not something I usually do, the bowler can even be your fantasy side captain or vice-captain considering he’s had brilliant returns of 1/21, 3/29 and 4/13 in his three games in this tournament so far. Nyasha Mayavo is also a good pick because he’s a middle order batsman who bowls his quota of overs as well.
Someone who comes with plenty of international experience is Tarisai Musakanda who has got starts but hasn’t converted to big scores yet. However, if someone can get a big score in the final game, it’s going to be him especially after his 45* in the last game. Someone who got a game in the 5th T20 was Tashinga Musekiwa and while he was expensive with his 41 runs in 4 overs, he managed 2 wickets and that’s what gets you your fantasy points.
Tanzania
While most of the Tanzania players haven’t been consistent, their openers have been extremely consistent. Both of Abhik Patwa and Jatin Darji have been getting good scores and thus, both should be included in your PlayerzPot (Use Code “READ1234”) fantasy teams. Darji has good scores of 48, 17, 30, 39 and 21 in the series while Patwa has also been good with scores of 29 and 47 in the last couple of games.
One of the newer additions to the side has been Harsheed Chohan who picked 2/9 in the 4th game and then followed it up with another good performance of 1/30 in the 5th T20, though the middle order batsman would like better than the 0(4) he got in that game. All-rounder Riziki Kiseto hasn’t performed up to potential in this series but he’s not far from a breakthrough performance, so keep him in your fantasy side.
