Marsh One Day Cup 2019 – VCT vs WAU Fantasy Preview

After a two week break, the 2019 Marsh One Day Cup has returned and we have three matches lined up for fantasy cricket fans today including NSW playing Tasmania in Match 13 and in Match 15, Queensland playing South Australia. In Match 14 of the tournament, we have a game at the WACA and here, Western Australia is in action, currently second on the points table.

They have 3 wins in 4 games and are behind only Queensland on the points table with an inferior net run rate. They are now playing Victoria, a team that hasn’t had the best season so far. They have 2 wins in 2 games and will be looking for another one here to get their campaign on track. Keep reading for our complete Fantain (Use Code “READ123”) fantasy preview of the VCT vs WAU game…

Numbers

  • Head to head in last 5 games, Western Australia leads 4-1.
  • Peter Handscomb in 4 games this tournament – 0, 13, 7, DNB.
  • Nic Maddinson in last 3 FC innings for Victoria – 224, 37, 37.
  • Andrew Tye – 10 wickets in 4 games this tournament so far.

Victoria

The team has named a 13-an squad and quite a few changes are announced with James Pattinson, Peter Siddle, Scott Boland, Chris Tremain NOT available for this game. On the other hand, we have Jackson Coleman, Andrew Fekete, Will Sutherland, and Xavier Crone coming in. Wicket-keeper batsman Peter Handscomb will lead the side and I’ll pick him even though he hasn’t got a 50+ score across formats in 7 games now.

Australia T20 captain Aaron Finch scored a mammoth 188* in the last game which puts him at 279 runs in 4 games here, and he even scored a fifty in an FC game after that to go with a century for Surrey prior to that. With the ball, Jackson Coleman has been the leader so far with 8 wickets in 4 games including a best of 4/46. Nic Maddinson is also in sizzling form at the moment and you can pick him in your fantasy side.

Western Australia

The first pick for me in this team has to be D’Arcy Short. The opening batsman is a new found all-rounder who had a stunning season for Durham recently with fifties and wickets galore. He has no wickets yet here but has a best of 129 and 205 runs in 4 games altogether. Another high-value all-round pick is Marcus Stoinis. Pick them and skip Mitchell Marsh and Nathan Coulter Nile as they are NOT in the squad for this fixture.

If you’re running on a tight fantasy budget, pick Josh Philippe in your Fantain (Use Code “READ123”) fantasy team as he’s the only batsman to have 2 fifties in this team so far. In 3 FC innings recently, he also scored 48, 18, 65, so he seems to be in good touch. With the ball, Andrew Tye is the leading wicket-taker in the tournament right now, but I’d prefer Jhye Richardson who picked three consecutive FC 3-fers for Western Australia recently.
