We move into Day 5 of the fourteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and so far, we’re still having one game a day scheduled in IPL 2021. Today, we have Match 5 where Kolkata Knight Riders will be in action after having picked up a victory in their opening game. An all-round performance meant they got past SRH rather easily but they’ve not had a good recent history with this opponent for today.

They’ll be up against Mumbai Indians who began with a loss in their IPL 2021 campaign and we think they may take another game or two before they find the right rhythm. In the last game, they begin brilliantly but crumbled away in the second half of the innings. KKR looked the more balanced side in the first round and they are my favourite today. Kolkata Knight Riders

I was particularly impressed with the batting of Rahul Tripathi even though he wasn’t slotted in as an opener where he performs the best. His 53(29) means he’s as good as we’ve known him to be and should be in our KOL vs MI fantasy team today. A floater in the batting order, we should also have Andre Russell in our team because he bowls in the death as well and there’s a good chance for him to rack up fantasy points.

With the ball, Prasidh Krishna had an average season last year but he’s got a little bit of international experience in the last year and he’s going to bring a lot of it into IPL 2021, so we’re adding him into our KOL vs MI Dream11 team today for sure. Harbhajan Singh opened the bowling for KKR in the last game but bowled just the one over there. He impressed and almost got Warner off the first ball, so should be picked today.

Mumbai Indians

With Rohit Sharma back up the order as an opener, wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan is having to bat lower down out of position, so we’re not too sure about picking him in our My11Circle (Get Rs.500 FREE*) KOL vs MI fantasy team but Suryakumar Yadav definitely makes the pick as he’s super consistent, scoring 31 in the last game. All-rounder Hardik Pandya didn’t bowl in the last game but he’s a massive game changer at all times.

Keeping the likes of Nathan Coulter-Nile out, Marco Jansen was handed a debut in the last game and he got 2/28 in that game. Given the average height of KKR batsmen, we think Jansen could bounce out a few and claim some more wickets in today’s outing. With the number of left-handed batsmen in the KKR side, leg-spinner Rahul Chahar and left-arm spinner Krunal Pandya could both be redundant and MI may even consider a change here.
