IPL 2019 Match 43 – KKR vs RR Fantasy Preview

Kolkata Knight Riders started this edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) looking as one of the best teams in the competition. However, something has just switched off miserably for the team and suddenly, they have 5 losses on the trot and they have found themselves in a rut. Now, they have an opportunity as they play one of only two teams who are below them on the points table.

They play Rajasthan Royals, who have been good but they haven’t been dishing out consistently good performances. Royals too have only 3 wins in 10 games and they need to win all games from here and win them well if they want to qualify to the IPL 2019 playoffs. IPL 2019 Match 43 - KKR vs RR Fantasy Preview

Form (recent first)

  • KKR: L L L L L
  • RR: L W L W L

Stats

  • Head to head, KKR lead RR 10-9.
  • KKR have won all of the last 4 games between these two.
  • After 3 innings vs Rajasthan, Dinesh Karthik averages 135!
  • 59*, 50 – Steve Smith’s last two innings in IPL 2019.
  • Sunil Narine has dismissed Ajinkya Rahane thrice in T20s.

Kolkata

In this season that has turned good to bad for Kolkata, one shining light for them has been Andre Russell, who has got better in every game, with 7 wickets and 392 runs in IPL 2019, batting at an average of 65 and an astonishing strike rate of 217+. Leaving home out of your team would be a sin, so I’d pick him, but as a normal player or maximum as my vice-captain, as bowlers will be laying out plans against him.

Dinesh Karthik, Robin Uthappa, Prithvi Raj, Shrikant Mundhe and Nikhil Naik were released from the KKR squad for some time off and they have rejoined the team now for this game. Scores of 11, 28, 0 and 9 in Robin Uthappa’s last 4 games is an indicator of how the KKR form has slipped in the last couple of weeks but I’ll have him in my team, being one of KKR’s most consistent batsman in recent times. From among the spinners, pick Piyush Chawla as Kuldeep has bowled at a horrendous average of 71 this year!

Rajasthan

Jos Buttler will be thoroughly missed by RR fans for the rest of IPL 2019, and they might want to bring back Rahul Tripathi in his place. Tripathi has proved in the past how well he plays as opener and notched his first fifty this year when promoted to the top, only to be dropped from the team. Ashton Turner has THREE CONSECUTIVE GOLDEN DUCKS and RR may consider an Indian player in Tripathi to fill his place.

Stuart Binny has been good in the 3 games he has been given a chance to play in the last week or two, however, he isn’t being bowled for more than a single over at the start. On the other hand, there’s the 17-year old Riyan Parag who has looked confident, has been promoted up the order regularly and is also being allowed to bowl out his full quota of 4 overs. Parag could be your x-factor player. Also, expect a nice exit from Ben Stokes before he leaves to go back to England.
