The 2019 Indian Premier League (IPL) has brought on many surprises and the biggest one that comes to us viewers is that both these two teams are in the upper half of the IPL points table at the halfway mark. Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals haven’t had such a good start in years of this tournament, both currently with 5 wins in 8 games; DC are placed 2nd while MI are 3rd on the points table currently (as of 17th April).
Mumbai were on a 3-match winning streak before their loss to Rajasthan and then bounced back with an easy win over Bangalore. As for Delhi, the name change seems to be working as the franchise has managed to strike up 3 consecutive wins in IPL 2019; not sure when was the last time they’ve managed such a brilliant run. Delhi
Everyone seems to be finding their exact role in this Delhi Capitals camp, right from bowlers to batsmen. Suddenly they seem like the team to beat, and this will be one of their biggest challenges yet. On the bowling front, Ishant Sharma has 5 wickets in 6 games this far but his rhythm and disciplined bowling at the top in IPL 2019 means that I will have him in my fantasy team..
Amit Mishra has only 3 wickets in 3 games this season, but he should be in the team for this game, as DC may mostly play an unchanged side. Mishra is one of the most experienced Indian spinners and his 0/13 in 3 overs in the last game could’ve been the masterstroke, as he was introduced only after the 10th over. Colin Ingram hasn’t rejoined the DC squad yet so Munro should get another game.
Mumbai
While everyone is going gaga over Rishabh Pant, I’m going to go for Quinton de Kock as my wicket-keeper in this game for multiple reasons. He has shown good form in recent games and Pant doesn’t have a great record here. Hardik Pandya has been sensational this year so far in IPL 2019 while his brother has struggled with the bat at least; I’m making Hardik my captain for today.
Lasith Malinga proved to everyone why he is still the champion of bowling at the death overs. He came back from Sri Lanka, was dropped for a couple of games and picked up 4 wickets on return. I’ll pick Malinga for my fantasy team today as his variations in the death are still almost ‘unpickable’. Ishan Kishan has a best of 21 in 4 games so I’d drop him. Mumbai could consider bringing Yuvraj Singh back in his place.
