Both teams involved here have had a similar 2021 T20 World Cup so far. both have played one and lost one each, both to the same opposition – Pakistan. However, one might say that India was completely smashed in their opening game while New Zealand having brought their game against Pakistan right down to the wire. This is a virtual quarter final game for both teams with Pakistan almost having qualified to the semi finals.
It’s almost a bag packing situation for the losing team here today as both are not expected to lose to any of Afghanistan, Scotland or Namibia. And that’s why Match 28 of the 2021 T20 World Cup is one of the most important ones so far. Remember, NZ has beaten Indian in recent important matches like the WTC Final or the semi of the 2019 World Cup in England. India
We’re not letting go of KL Rahul from our IND vs NZ fantasy team even though he was dismissed cheaply in their first game against Pakistan. Before that game, he had four consecutive big scores and he’s one of the top players in India’s top order as well. There was a lot of talk about Virat Kohli’s form coming into this tournament but he top scored in the first game and remember, he’s always been India’s top scorer in T20 World Cups.
There’s a lot of talk about India’s ineffective bowling against Pakistan. Would they want to try Bhuvneshwar Kumar for another game? There’s Shardul Thakur sitting on the bench who could come in and he has a habit of making things happen. There’s also R Ashwin who is a turner of the ball, unlike India’s other spinners in Jadeja and Chakravarthy. With Dubai offering most turn to spinners, he may be a good addition to the side.
New Zealand
Opener Martin Guptill struggled in the last game and against India, he’s got a little over 200 runs in 12 T20Is, so we’re leaving him out of our IND vs NZ MyFab11 team. His opening partner is Daryl Mitchell who is new to this role but he’s someone who can hit a big ball and when needed, is a handy bowler as well. With the ball, we don’t see Tim Southee as much of a risk, even though he did well int he last game with 1/25. He has only 10 scalps in 12 games against India.

Talking about the spin in this surface, Ish Sodhi will be a lethal weapon, having 17 wickets in 12 games against India. He will be used well as Kohli has shown a struggle against leg-spin in the past, so he should make our MyFab11 (sign-up with code “READAD46“) IND vs NZ fantasy team. Batting at number #4, James Neesham failed in the last game but we’re loving that position for him and could be tried as fantasy captain or vice-captain.
