There’s so much of cricket taking place in England right now. The national side just finished a series against Pakistan and will be hosting India for 5 Tests soon. Simultaneously, the first ever edition of The Hundred is all set to kick off and to add to the fun, we have the English ODD competition called the Royal London One Day Cup 2021 ready to take place with multiple games a day between 22 July – 19 August 2021.
Some of the best regional teams in the country will participate in the England ODD 2021 but remember to choose players who are available, as some may be at The Hundred and others with the national side. In Match 1, we have Glamorgan in action against Warwickshire, playing each other after 6 years in this format. Stats that matter
- Last 5 games head to head, Warwickshire leads 2-1.
- Billy Root – 386 runs in 8 games in the 2019 season.
- Sam Hain – only 1 fifty in last 10 inns across formats.
Glamorgan
Joe Root’s brother Billy Root hasn’t been in the greatest form in recent months but when this Royal London Cup was last played in 2019, he was the team’s top scorer with 2 fifties and a century, so he’s worth picking in your GLA vs WAS fantasy team today. With the ball, a very experienced player is available in Timm van der Gugten who has played for Netherlands, moved to Australia and has also played a lot in England.
Among the big names in the side are obviously South Africa’s Colin Ingram and the Aussie run machine, Marnus Labuschagne. You want to add both these players to your GLA vs WAS Dream11 teams provided they make the playing eleven. Another Aussie player who you can even pick as fantasy captain or vice-captain is Michael Neser who is primarily a bowler but can hit the long handle if required from him too.
Warwickshire
Will Rhodes is set to captain the side but he’s currently captaining County Select XI against the Indians, so leave him out of your BatBall11 (Code “READ123“) GLA vs WAS fantasy team, as well as Hanuma Vihari. A new signing for this team is Kyle Mayers who is one of the revelations from West Indies who can really give it a big with the bat and he’s a fantasy captain option because he’s used a lot with the ball too.

With the bat, Sam Hain has not been in the best of form of late but he’s experienced and when this tournament was last played in 2019, he was the top scorer for Warwickshire with 385 runs in 7 games including 2 fifties and a century. While Dom Sibley, Chris Woakes and Carlos Brathwaite are some international options, someone like Oliver Hannon-Dalby who is lesser known could be an x-factor bowling option today.
