It’s been a poor start to the 2021 Tamil Nadu Premier League so far. Spectators would’ve been thrilled that the fifth edition of TNPL could finally get underway after the 2020 edition was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak. However, the first couple of games at the TNPL 2021 season have both been washed out due to rain and that has added to the frustration for fans. In Match 3, it’s Nellai vs Ruby Trichy Warriors.

Weekdays will see only one game each in TNPL 2021 and here on 22nd July, we have two teams playing their first respective games of the season. On one hand is Dindigul Dragons, one of the most consistent sides in TNPL history and on the other hand is Siechem Madurai Panthers playing at Chidambaram stadium in Match 4. Dindigul Dragons

A few changes in the side for the TNPL 2021 edition which also means they don’t have N Jagadeesan anymore who was the leading run scorer in TNPL 2019. Ravi Ashwin is with the national side in England so keep him out of your DD vs SMP fantasy team as well. With the ball, there’s the very exciting 22-year old M Silambarasan who hasn’t played much cricket of late but the left-arm spinner got 14 wickets last season.

With the bat, there’s always C Hari Nishaanth who played a few match-winning knocks in the last season for this side, finishing after Jagadeesan for the team with 320+ runs in the season and that warrants a place for him in our DD vs SMP Dream11 team. Rajhamany Srinivasan is leading the side and he’s a safe pick because he’s sure to play but he’ll be wanting to better his pretty average form in recent months.

Siechem Madurai Panthers

30-year old NS Chaturved is leading the side but we wouldn’t recommend having him in your My11Circle (Get Rs.500 FREE*) DD vs SMP fantasy team because he hasn’t played professional cricket since the TNPL 2o19 season. On the other hand, wicket-keeper batsman Arun Karthik is a must have as he’s always been consistent in the domestic circuit, ending as their top scorer last season with a best score of 106.

Varun Chakravarthy is named in the squad but considering he’s with Team India in Sri Lanka, ensure you don’t pick him ether for the first few games. With 17 wickets in 9 games however, they have a good bowling option in L Kiran Akash who was the second highest wicket-taker last season. A gamble for fantasy captain could be in Jagatheesan Kousik since he’s likely to contribute in both departments for the team.
