The 1st ODI between England and Ireland at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton saw Ireland putting up 1702 and England winning by 6 wickets. The 2nd ODI at the same ground saw Ireland batting first again and scoring 210+ and this time, the hosts winning by 4 wickets, but in both cases, England was in a spot of bother at one stage before lower order partnerships bailed out.
Ireland need to stick to the task and if they bat first, they know 10-20 more runs on board and something around 230-240 could easily be a inning total on this pitch which is slightly slower than other English pitches at the moment. Ireland will be looking to salvage some pride from this series! Keep reading for our complete Nostragamus (Use “READSCOOPS” for Rs.100 FREE) fantasy preview of the ENG vs IRE 3rd ODI…

England
At the top of the order, Jason Roy bagged a duck in the last game but he looked good in the 1st ODI, so we’ll continue to pick him while Jonny Bairstow was on fire in the last game, proving a point after being left out of the Test squad earlier against West Indies. Picking both openers is a must, especially if England win the toss and decide to bat first rather than the chasing they’ve done in both games so far this series.
James Vince got starts in both matches but wasn’t able to convert while Tom Banton hasn’t been good either, both showing their inexperience at the highest level. Instead, let’s pick the captain Eoin Morgan for our ENG vs IRE 3rd ODI fantasy team since Ireland is picking wickets and exposing the middle order early. After picking 2 wickets each in both games, Saqib Mahmood becomes my first bowling choice today!
Ireland
As for the visitors, it’s been disappointing to see Paul Stirling fail in both games, easily their most experienced player across all formats. He has only 14 runs in 2 games so far and won’t be picked by too many fantasy teams for the 3rd ODI. With just 18 runs in 2 games, captain Andy Balbirnie has also failed in this series so far but with 5 centuries in 69 ODIs, you can say he’s their most talented batsman and should be picked.

The 21-year old Curtis Campher looks calm and composed at the crease and has 2 fifties in his first 2 ODIs, along with 3 wickets to his name, so he’s a good choice today for your Nostragamus (Use “READSCOOPS” for Rs.100 FREE) fantasy team captain or vice-captain; the all-rounder reminds me of Australia’s Marcus Stoinis. Finally, I’d also like to pick Andy McBrine though this pitch doesn’t offer much to the spinners; he’s a fighter and has useful contributions with the bat too.
