ENG vs IRE 2020 – 1st ODI Fantasy Preview

It’s going to be a very important series for both sides involved. As for the hosts, they’ve already played test cricket, with the recent home series against West Indies but it’s now time for England to get back to the format they love the most – ODIs. The world champions have set record after record in the last 4-5 years in home ODIs and they’ll be hoping to set a few more in this 3-match series between 30 Jul – 4 Aug 2020.

They host Ireland and normally, the latter stands an outside chance but to beat England in England is going to be too much of an ask from the visitors. Ireland last played an ODI series in January this year, losing 3-0 to West Indies and now, all 3 ODIs will be played at Southampton. England

The leading scorer at this ground is none other than Eoin Morgan with 610 runs in 14 ODIs here including 2 fifties and 2 hundreds. Being a former Irish cricketer, he has more reason to perform here, so should be one of the first picks of your ENG vs IRE fantasy team. All-rounders are great for fantasy leagues and Moeen Ali should be picked as well, named as vice-captain of the side and someone who is itching to get back to competitive cricket.

While the rest of the squad is completely different than the test one, there were a couple of players in the squad playing Windies and one of them was Jonny Bairstow, who watched out the series while Jos Buttler donned the gloves, and he’ll be eager to get out there and score runs. Along with him, batting all-rounder Joe Denly had a couple of starts but failed in both innings of the 1st Test and he’ll be waiting to prove himself again.

Ireland

Newly appointed skipper across all formats, Andy Balbirnie believes Ireland can upset the hosts in this 3-match series and this guy can’t be left out of your team, with 5 hundreds in 67 ODIs and only 2 single-digit scores in his last 10 international games. Balbirnie was one of three Irish batsmen to score fifties in that warm-up game including Paul Stirling and Harry Tector, the former being super experienced!

Jason Roy is one of the best ODI batsmen going around int he world today and Mark Adair knocked him off in the first ball of that game, ending with 2 wickets, so he’s not someone you want to leave out of your Nostragamus (Use “READSCOOPS” for Rs.100 FREE) fantasy team. Kevin O’Brien is another super experienced player who knows what it feels to beat a giant like England too.
