End of the Road For David Warner And SRH?

It was the IPL 2014 auction when David Warner made the big move to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL). They paid heavily for the southpaw from Australia and it’s safe to say that this was the most perfect move because he was super consistent, leading the team from the front and scoring runs for fun.

End of the Road For David Warner And SRH?

Over the years with SRH, Warner broke countless records for this franchise including the record for the most runs for them – 4,014 runs. This was scored over 90+ IPL career games, including 2 centuries and a record-breaking 40 fifties for SRH. No batsman in the IPL has more fifties than Warner and the icing on the cake for him at this franchise was his IPL 2016 victory, beating RCB in the final.

Over six seasons for SRH between IPL 2014 and IPL 2020, Warner has scored 500+ runs in six consecutive seasons and this was the first time he has dipped his form, scoring 2 fifties in 8 games, with a tad under 200 runs in IPL 2021. Clearly, we’ve seen worse performances but for Warner, it’s not about form but has to be trouble in paradise with the SRH management.

Why, you ask?! It began earlier this season when Warner openly spoke about his displeasure in Manish Pandey being left out of the SRH playing eleven. That was an immediate hint towards the fact that there’s a rift between him and management, and it got worse later during the season where he was dropped and was even removed as captain. We even saw Warner being used as the water boy for the team!

Now, he played the first couple of games of IPL 2021 in UAE before being dropped again. This time, he wasn’t even present at the stadium and when fans asked the same on social media, he gave a subtle reply saying that he may not be seen there again. Clearly, this could be the end of the road for one of IPL’s best batsmen. He may never play another game for SRH again!
