We all love and appreciate good bowling performances, especially when they come in T20 cricket which is usually considered as a batter’s game. In the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) too, there have been a handful of amazing outings by bowlers representing different franchises in this competition, in many cases going the extra mile and picking up CPL 5-wicket hauls as well.
On this page, we’ve listed down every occasion where a bowler has picked up a 5-fer in the CPL T20 competition, right from inception with CPL 2013, till date. To be able to pick 5 wickets when you only have a maximum quota of 4 overs is praiseworthy and this has happened a total of eleven (11) times in CPL history so far. The first time a CPL 5-fer was taken was in the first edition of the tournament itself, when Bangladesh’s Shakib al Hasan bamboozled his opposition with a record 6/6 which not only remains the best CPL figures till date, but it’s also the only occasion that a CPL 6-wicket haul was taken. He did so for Barbados Tridents against the Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel franchise, as it was called back then.

It wasn’t too long before the next CPL 5-wicket haul was witnessed, as Fidel Edwards picked up one in the same game. He got 5/22 but it ended in a losing cause, being one of only two occasions where a 5-fer went in vain in the CPL. One of the most surprising stats from this CPL 5-fers list is the fact that in 10+ seasons of this competition, there are two teams who are yet to have an entry in this list. We’re talking about St Kitts & Nevis Patriots and the Jamaica Tallawahs, but we’re sure that they will eventually catch up and have an entry or two in this CPL 5-wicket hauls list.

Like we know, it’s not very often that 5-fers take place in 20-over cricket and here too, it’s been a while since the last CPL 5-fer, with no one adding to this list in CPL 2022 and even CPL 2023. Individually, David Wiese is the only bowler to have multiple entries on this list, picking up not one or two, but as many as three CPL 5-wicket hauls, with his best being 5/25 in CPL 2021.
