Ed Joyce, Eoin Morgan, Boyd Rankin.
These are three players who have played international cricket for both of Ireland and England, and here’s the second one who will be calling it time on his international career. Ed Joyce has been gone from the circuit since a while now while the 36-year old Boyd Rankin is now the next one who will be hanging up his boots!
Having made his international debut all the way back in 2007, Rankin has always been a vital part of the Irish international squad and he’s spent many years playing County Cricket in England as well. Towering at a height of 6ft 7in, he’s one of the tallest fast bowlers in international cricket and we won’t be seeing him in action going forward.

With 106 ODI wickets, 55 T20I wickets and 8 Test wickets to his name, he’s one of Ireland’s leading pace bowlers and will always be remembered as the same. He made the decision of announcing his retirement from international and inter-provincial cricket after today’s game, and it was Cricket Ireland who shared the news on their Twitter handle:

A 11-year stint at Warwickshire County Cricket Club is something he will be known for in English County, leaving behind a legacy, being one of 15 players to represent two countries in international cricket. Among his most memorable moments in international cricket was in 2018 when he picked the first wicket for Ireland in men’s Test cricket, playing against Pakistan at Malahide.
“To retire from international cricket is always a tough call, but I feel now is the right time to step away. I have put my heart and soul into playing cricket professionally since 2003 and have loved every minute of it. I never dreamt I would play for Ireland as much as I did and to travel the world playing in numerous World Cups and to pull on the Irish jersey is something I will never forget,” said Rankin in a long note.
