Last week, two of the world’s greatest batsmen got together to do a live video on Instagram from their respective homes, from in India and one in South Africa. We’re talking about AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli who entertained their fans for an hour while also announcing a massive fund raiser to help those affected by the coronavirus pandemic around the world.
The two decided to auction some of their personal belongings including gloves, bats and a jersey from an unforgettable match they played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2016. All proceeds from the auction on bidorbuy will go towards those affected by the disease, and they’ve been getting quite a lot of bids on their memorabilia so far.
After starting off at a much, much lower pace in the earlier hours of the action going live, the pace has picked up and now, 11 bids later, we’ve arrived at a whopping price of 10 million Rand for the memorabilia of these two batting maestros. That’s a massive sum of money equalling to 4+ Crore Rupees and there’s still more to come.

It just goes to show how many cricket crazy fans we have across the world and moreover, how people are willing to help those in need at the moment. Remember, all proceeds are going to COVID-19 relief. The auction will be on till 17 May and there’s plenty of scope for this number to go much higher in the next couple of weeks to come.
Earlier this month, it was England’s Jos Buttler who began this trend where he auctioned his World Cup final winning jersey which fetched him a whopping sum of 65,000 Pounds. For more updates from the cricketing world, stay tuned to ReadScoops.com.
