After the Caribbean Premier League (CPL T20) became the first major T20 league to announce its schedule for this year, Cricket Australia decided to follow suit with the Big Bash League (BBL) 2020/21 with the entire schedule for BBL and WBBL being announced, keeping in mind Covid-19 contingencies.
The season is going to be a much longer one than ever before, beginning 2 weeks earlier than when the BBL 2019/20 season began. BBL Season 10 is set to run between 3 Dec 2020 – 6 Feb 2021 which will clash with Australia’s home series against India, which means national players might miss some matches. The season kicks off with Melbourne Strikers vs Melbourne Renegades on 3 Dec 2020!
“As the BBL approaches its tenth season, the League, our Clubs and our Partners are doing everything possible to ensure that we are set and ready to go for a great Summer of Big Bash. Scheduling in the time of coronavirus is not without its challenges, as we have seen in elite sporting conditions at home and abroad, and there are factors outside the League itself which could impact the fixture at a later date. That said, at this time, we are happy with the fixture as it stands and excited to celebrate a decade of Big Bash with Australian fans during the summer,” said Head of Big Bash League, Alistair Dobson.
