Asia Cup 2023 – Ravi Shastri Asks India’s Decision THRICE!

It’s the all-important India vs Pakistan clash in the Asia Cup 2023 and the toss happened on time even though there has been talk abut the poor weather for the last few days now. The game is being played at Pallekele where weather is always a question but the crowds turned in on time to watch the toss, which was being held by former India opener and Head Coach, Ravi Shastri.

Shastri welcomed the two captains at the middle, Pakistan’s Babar Azam and India’s Rohit Sharma. He then introduced the match referee Javagal Srinath and Azam flipped the coin. Then, Sharma called heads and he was quick to realise that he has won the toss, and said out loud on the microphone that he will bat first. However, he was asked to repeat that a few times over the next few minutes in the conversation.

Rohit Sharma opts to bat ‘three times’

Shastri probably didn’t hear the immediate reaction of Sharma saying they’ll bat first and he decided to ask him again what his decision was. Sharma mentioned his decision for the second time and from there, they went on to talk about this IND vs PAK clash, the team combination, the weather forecast, and many other technical questions about this all-important Asia Cup 2023 game.

After completing the toss interview, Shastri ended the conversation with asking Rohit for the third time what India’s decision was. Once again, Rohit confirmed that he will be batting first. He mentioned that they will be playing three seamers in Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, and Shardul Thakur, while the two spinners are Jadeja and Kuldeep.

The big news at the toss was that India brought back two players who have been out with injuries for the last couple of months. With the ball, Bumrah returns and with the bat, Shreyas Iyer was back, replacing Suryakumar Yadav in the middle order. As for Pakistan, they decided to play the same team from their first Asia Cup 2023 game against Nepal, confirmed by Babar at the toss itself.
