Ever since the tournament’s inception back in 2016, everyone has always been praising the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), a regional T20 franchise league that has grown leaps and bounds in just 8 completed seasons at the time of last updating this page. And during these seasons, we’ve seen a number of batting and bowling spectacles by these talented players.
Since T20 is usually considered a batsman’s game, the batting records are usually praised more than those of the bowlers. And today, we’re looking at all those batsmen who have done well with the bat over the years in the TNPL tournament. We’re going to talk about every century scored in the history of the TNPL. At the time of the start of the TNPL 2025 season, the league had already seen as many as 15 individual centuries (updated 10th June 2025), with 12 unique centurions and just two people in this tournament having scored a second individual ton each – KB Arun Karthik and Murali Vijay. Karthik’s TNPL 2022 century made him the first to get two centuries in TNPL history, and then he became the first to three TNPL centuries too.

Talking about the first ever TNPL century, it was none other than Baba Aparajith who went on to write his name down in TNPL history books. This happened during TNPL 2016 and he’s come close to doing so again but hasn’t been successful. Narayan Jagadeesan is the only other player who came close to a second century, getting nineties apart from his only TNPL hundred.

That century from Aparajith in TNPL 2016 turned out to be the only century of the season while the second edition of the tournament was a good one for batsmen. We saw three individual centuries scored in TNPL 2017 which was then repeated in TNPL 2019, where once again three different batsmen ended up scoring TNPL centuries. The highest TNPL score till date was from the bat of Sai Sudharsan, who got 123* in a magnificent chase for Lyca Kovai Kings in TNPL 2024.

Sudharsan went on to get an IPL century too, and even finished as the Orange Cap (leading run scorer) winner at the IPL 2025 season. He also won the Emerging Player award along with a few more accolades. So we have our money on Sudharsan getting multiple more entries into this Tamil Nadu Premier League centuries list.
The TNPL 2020 season stood cancelled because the entire world was struggling with Covid-19 and live sports was hurt more than anything else. On the other hand, TNPL 2021 was the first and till date only edition of the tournament (which was not cancelled) where not a single individual century was scored. But that tournament was headlined by the batting of Narayan Jagadeesan who went on to score a couple of nineties in the season. He ended as the top scorer of TNPL 2021 and at the start of the TNPL 2025 season, he remains the top scorer in the tournament’s history as well.
