Among the most popular T20 franchise leagues across the world, Pakistan Super League (PSL) has a lot of international stars which has taken the competition to new heights in recent years. The league sees a lot of new milestones and records being broken on a yearly basis, and while it’s always known as a batsman’s game, we’re going to review some of the top bowlers on this page.
Top PSL wicket-takers list
At the time of writing this, we were about to kick off with PSL 9, and we’ve got an all-time top 10 PSL wicket-takers list, last updated on 17th February 2024. It’s interesting to note that 9 out of the top 10 players on the PSL most wickets list are local, Pakistani players, with South Africa’s Imran Tahir being the only overseas player. 5) Faheem Ashraf
Talk about all-rounders and here’s one for you. Having played way less games than everyone else in the top 5, he’s one of the top performers in the PSL in recent seasons. Faheem Ashraf can bat but he’s made records with the ball so far with 72 scalps in just 60 PSL games, also being one of the few bowlers in this tournament to have a 6-fer under his belt (6/19), and having another 4-fer apart from this too.
4) Shadab Khan
The leg-spinner is an important part of the Pakistan national side over the years and here in the PSL, he’s bagged 77 wickets in 72 PSL games, playing all his career for the Islamabad United franchise. Only three bowlers in this PSL most wickets list have got 5-fers and he’s one of them, with his career best being 5/28 so far before the start of the PSL 2024 season.

3) Shaheen Afridi
The Pakistani captain in the shorter formats, Shaheen Shah Afridi is one of the leading white-ball bowlers in the world right now. He joined PSL in the league’s third season and he’s quickly risen here through the years, securing 89 wickets in 62 games. He contributes with the ball in the PSL too, but his bowling exploits includes a best of 5/4 and he’s the only bowler here to have two PSL 5-fers.
2) Hasan Ali
One of Pakistan’s prime pacers in the last couple of years, Hasan Ali is the only one on this list of top PSL wicket-takers to have played for multiple franchises, representing Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi over the years. He’s bagged 94 scalps in 72 PSL matches with a best bowling performance of 4/15. He’s also one of only 3 bowlers in the history of the tournament to have three PSL 4-fers.
1) Wahab Riaz
Having played for the Peshawar Zalmi right from the start, it’s no surprise that the fiery Wahab Riaz is on top of this PSL wicket-takers list. He’s spent a lot of time captaining the franchise too and has led from the front with 113 wickets in 88 matches and we don’t think he’s going to be displaced from the top spot anytime soon. 4/17 is his best spell in his PSL career and he bowls a lot on the death overs too, which is why so many wickets to his name.
Currently, Riaz is the only bowler to have 100+ PSL wickets but it’s likely that Hasan Ali and Shaheen Afridi will join him on this list soon. Those who narrowly missed on the top 10 PSL most wickets list include Imad Wasim (51 wickets), Umaid Asif (48 wickets), and Mohammad Hasnain (47 wickets).
